Privacy policy
Last updated 22 September 2026
QuizMwa is used by children. We collect as little information as required for the app to function properly, and we do not sell or share any of it.
Who we are
QuizMwa is run from Mauritius by the QuizMwa team. If you have a question about this policy, write to us through the contact page and we will answer.
What we hold
Your name, so the app can greet you and an administrator can find your account. Your email address, so we can confirm the account is real, reset a forgotten password, tell you about your subscription, and send you occasional messages about your account and offers. You can say no to those at any time: reply STOP to any of them, or write to us through the contact page. Your grade, so we show you the right units. Your answers and scores, so you can see your progress and revise what you got wrong. If you write to us through the contact page: your message, your name and your address, kept until the matter is dealt with. If you send a proof of payment: the screenshot, photo or PDF you send us and any note you add to it. It is stored so that an administrator can check the payment against the reference, and it is visible only to them. How you found us — for example that you arrived from a Facebook link, from a campaign link, or with an offer code. We keep the website name only, never the page you came from or anything in its address. We do not ask for a date of birth, a school or an address, and we never ask a child for a photograph of themselves. There is no advertising on QuizMwa, and nothing here follows you around other websites.
How your email address is stored
Email addresses are encrypted in our database. They are stored alongside a one-way index that lets us look an account up without ever holding the address in readable form. An administrator sees a masked address in the admin screens.
Payment
We do not take card payments and no card details ever reach this app. A subscription is paid by bank transfer (Juice will be available soon), directly to us, and an administrator then switches full access on for the account.
If you choose to send your proof of payment on WhatsApp rather than uploading it here, that message goes through WhatsApp and is covered by their terms as well as ours. Uploading it instead keeps it inside this app.
Who else sees it
Nobody outside the QuizMwa team, except the services that run the app: our hosting and database provider, and the service that delivers our emails. They process the data on our instructions and for no other purpose.
Google sees two things, and only these. The “I’m not a robot” box on the sign-up and contact forms is Google reCAPTCHA, which checks that a real person is filling the form in; and if you choose to sign in with Google rather than with a password, Google tells us your name and email address so we can find your account. Both are covered by Google’s own privacy policy.
Cookies
A small handful, all of them ours and all of them doing a job you asked for. One keeps you signed in, and holds a signed token with your account id and nothing else — no email address, no name. One remembers which child’s profile is the active one, so the app greets the right person. One holds an offer code you arrived with, so it survives the walk to the sign-up page. One remembers the email address you typed at sign-up, so you do not have to type it twice. One remembers how you found us, so that if you sign up we can tell which of our posts or flyers worked — it holds a website name or a campaign tag, nothing that identifies you, and it expires after thirty days. There are no advertising cookies and no cookies from anybody else.
Analytics
We do count visits, and we are specific about how. The counter is Umami, running on our own server rather than someone else’s: it sets no cookie, stores no IP address, and builds no profile of you. It tells us which pages are used and which are not, and that is all it can tell us. It is not shared with anyone.
How long we keep it
For as long as the account exists. If you ask us to delete the account and we delete it, along with the attempts and scores attached to it. Thereafter only anonymised data is kept.
Your rights
You — or a parent or guardian, for a child — can ask to see what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete the account entirely, or tell us to stop sending you offers. Write to us on the contact page (or reply STOP to an offer email) and we will act within thirty days.
Children
QuizMwa is written for pupils in Grades 5 and 6. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to create the account.
Changes
If we change this policy we will change the date at the top of this page, and we would ask you to look over it from time to time so you know where you stand. The updated policy is the one that applies.
